I am passionate about making quantitative methods in biology and ecology more accessible and exciting for students.
Picture

I am thankful to the numerous teachers and mentors that have helped me develop my quantitative skillset and am motivated to pass these skills along to the next generation of students. I actively seek out opportunities in training and practice to become a better educator. Below is a brief summary of my teaching experience.

Instructor-of-record

Biostatistics (undergraduate-level, ~120 students)
University of Notre Dame: Spring 2021

I co-developed and taught introductory biostatistics at the University of Notre Dame. My co-instructor and I created an updated version of this course, focusing particularly on promoting students' learning of the statistical language R. For the course, I independently wrote and delivered nine lectures over the course of the semester as well as created five labs. My co-instructor and I coordinated five lab sections with ~15 graduate and undergraduate TAs. I received the Kaneb Center Award for Outstanding Graduate Instructor in spring 2021.

Other Experience

Beyond formal university appointments, I also served as a teaching assistant for "Quant Camp" – a week-long introductory course into quantitative methods for incoming graduate students – at Notre Dame preceding the fall semesters of 2017 and 2018.

In spring 2021, I was a part of a Faculty Mentoring Network entitled "Make TRUBLE: Make Teaching R in Undergraduate Biology Less Excruciating" through the Quantitative Undergraduate Biology Education and Synthesis (QUBES) project.
